What is Sterling Silver?

Updated: Feb 27, 2018

The earliest remains of silver that have been found can date back to as early as 4000 BC, and in some cases silver has been recognised to be more precious than gold.

Now the question on everyone’s mind is what the difference between a sterling silver ring from My Jewel Eye and a regular ring from high street shop is. Well the first thing you need to know is Sterling silver is classed as a precious metal? Yep that’s right my friends it’s a precious metal, where as the cheaper rings on the high street are cheap for one reason and one reason only, those rings are made from metals such as steel, brass other mixed metals. Basically when it rains and you take your jewellery off to find your finger has gone green, that’s why.

At my jewel eye you will only find 100% Sterling silver. Why? Silver is a versatile and a solid metal, meaning it is a perfect material to use for diamonds and gemstones. Sterling silver is durable, long lasting and has a beautiful finish to it, just make sure you maintain your jewellery to get the perfect shine every time you wear, did we mention at my Jewel Eye all of our rings come with free cleaning cloth, so there is no excuse! Unless you’re lazy...then well, there’s nothing we can do!

So don’t worry about your ring loosing its colour or your finger turning green as My Jewel Eye’s products are all authentic hallmarked 925 silver!
